Design Trends To Watch Out For In New Construction Homes | by Chafin Communities

As a home builder, we are always keeping an eye on the latest interior and exterior design trends in new construction homes. These trends are constantly evolving. It is always difficult to keep up with all styles, features, colors, and plans that homeowners are in the market for.  Below we discuss the latest and greatest features that Chafin Communities is currently introducing into their plans so be sure to check them out.

Energy Efficiency

One trend that we have been seeing a lot recently not only from ourselves but other builders as well as is a focus on sustainability and energy efficiency. More and more homeowners are looking for homes built with eco-friendly materials or can attribute to a more sustainable way of living. Homebuyers want features that will help them save on energy costs, especially in light of inflation. This can include things like solar panels, energy-efficient appliances, and more.

Open-Concept Floorplans

Another trend that we have noticed is the rise of open-concept floor plans. Gone are the days of separate rooms for each function. Now homeowners not only want homes that flow seamlessly from one space to the next but they are also looking for spaces that can act with multi-purpose. Living or great rooms incorporated with the kitchen or breakfast area or another type of non-formal dining are being constructed as people want to gather more in a social setting. We are finding that homebuyers are also wanting large windows which incorporates bringing the outdoors inside.

Outdoor Living

We have also seen a rise in the popularity of outdoor living spaces which we personally love. Homeowners are looking for homes that have large decks, patios, screened in porches while incorporating some sort of heat source element like a fireplace. The outdoor spaces should be available to use all the time and not just seasonally. This trend has been especially popular in Georgia and other southern states, where outdoor living and a cup of sweet tea or lemonade on a patio is a must.

Smart Home Technology

Another trend that we have seen in new construction homes is a focus on technology, specifically smart home technology. Homeowners are looking for homes that are smart, connected, and able to integrate with their other devices.  Smart connection between phones, pads, laptops, computers. This can include things like smart thermostats, home automation systems, and even features like built-in home theaters and security systems. The most appealing part about technology today is that you don’t have to be home to control these options. Having control over your technologies with a push of a button anytime and any where is at the top of homebuyers lists today.

As a home builder, it is important to stay up-to-date on these trends. We survey our buyers so that we are able to offer them the latest and greatest features when it comes to our home designs with interiors and exteriors.
