Floor Plans: How To Choose a One That’s “Future Proof” Your Needs

Floor Plans: When we talk about “future proofing”, we are taking about what needs you will have for the duration of when you  want to live in a home.  There are advantages and disadvantages to the two main styles…single level living (ranch) and two story homes.

Finally, things you may want to consider:

  • Adding kids later or empty nesters soon (more or less bedrooms/baths)
  • Room mates a must (split bedroom plans or townhomes)
  • Animal friendly (homes with yards)
  • Handicap accessible or retrofit later (plans with extra wide door ways on the main and a bedroom full bath on the main)
  • Parents moving in (second owner’s suite plans or plans with full private guest suites on the main)
  • Do you entertain a lot and with overnight guests (guest suite on the main and formal dining)

There are two ways to look at the facts to help you decide:

#1 – Pros and Cons.  #2 – The Different Features
